Remember, the movie "A Few Good Men", when Jack Nicholson says, "You can't handle the truth."? How many times have you been confronted with the truth? Were you ready for it? Did you deny it or run away from it? Remember when you were a child and someone's big brother or sister said, "There's no Santa Clause."? Some kid's reality (maybe you) came crashing in when they realized that mom and dad had been lying all this time. I remember pretending I still believed in Santa because I feared not getting any gifts.
Fear is the biggest obstacle holding many people back. Don't let fear be an obstacle keeping you from the truth. Do you ever question your beliefs? We are taught not to because it will show a weakness in our faith, and be afraid that you won't be considered a good Christian. But how did you get to where you are in your faith? Chances are a church elder gave you the foundation of your beliefs, or maybe you just went along with the crowd because everyone else is doing it. Maybe the, 'fake it until you make it', approach. Let me tell you; there is no "safety in numbers" when your eternal salvation is at stake.
When I was in, St. Agnes Catholic Elementary, fourth or fifth grade, I heard "Jesus' birthday" really wasn't on the 25th of December. I nervously asked a priest, who came to our school, if this was true. Looming over me, he explained the actual date was not known. He said, “many years ago the 25th was used to get pagan non-believers, who celebrated their deity on that date, into the Christian faith“. That explanation was good enough for everyone else, but not for me.
That was a turning point in my faith. I was taught not to go along with the crowd, and this was one time, I don’t think my parents were referring to. I pretty much withdrew from any religious belief; thinking it was as made up as Santa Claus, and just faked it.
Right now you are probably a bit cynical about whose truth it is. Let's face it, you are bombarded on a daily basis with many 'truths'. Which ones can you believe? Your pastor, priest, teacher or preacher won't give you the truth. Only to pick and choose the "truth" that fits their doctrine or agenda. We are not trying to sell you anything. Our only gain would be your salvation.
In the coming pages you will be presented with much information. Research it thoroughly yourself before you come to any conclusions. If you find anything in error or that needs to be expounded upon, e-mail us with what you have found. As a goldsmith uses a fire to refine gold, we have refined our beliefs by diligently searching out these matters. And we will continue to do so.
With much prayer, my wife, Josette, has painstakingly compiled a great deal of scriptures to prove what the real truth is, and to disprove the many "truths" we have been led to believe. Don't fear the truth, it really can set you free.
